Facing major depressive disorder, persistent anxiety, a bipolar diagnosis, navigating OCD, postpartum depression, or recovering from abuse, trauma, or PTSD is tough. Getting care that adequately puts you on the path to wellness can be challenging. In fact, many major mental health concerns take years to receive a proper diagnosis and appropriate care.
When addressing your mental health concerns, you might see more than one provider.
Medication and psychotherapy in combination is common, and both are valuable treatments.
Finding a group of providers that offer all the modalities you need, accepts your insurance, collaborates on your case, and makes scheduling appointments convenient can be difficult.
This is where Continuity offers the answer. Our care is collaborative, specialized, and experienced.
We take a team approach to ensure your well-being stays in focus.
At Continuity, we provide a comprehensive range of psychiatric and therapeutic services tailored to meet your individual needs. Whether you're seeking a therapist in Texas, psychiatric care covered by insurance, or specialized treatment for complex conditions, our dedicated team is here to support you every step of the way.
The healthcare system is taking more time to acknowledge, and treat mental health concerns more than ever before. But the need continues to increase. Patients may be asked about their mental health is at their annual exam or at a routine check-up.
But, getting the words out during a routine check-up can be hard to do.
Often a visit with a doctor is roughly 17 minutes, and often much shorter. When someone needs to talk about a mental health issue that patient uses 85% more time than a patient not addressing mental health concerns.
The takeaway? When it comes to treating a mental health issue, especially if it has been persistent or complicated, you need more than 15-20 minutes to get to the heart of what's going on.
We offer appointments that are long enough to build a real rapport with your provider, and we never rush your follow up appointments.
You can expect every session to be thorough.
We are grateful to our referral network of medical professionals who help their patients get specialized mental health care when they need it. As clinicians we are taught to refer out when a patient will benefit from it, and we work hard to develop and maintain positive referral relationships to help people get the care they need.
Healthcare is specialized for a reason—you want to see the right type of provider for the issue you need to address. While primary care physicians (PCPs), OB-GYNs and family physicians are often the first contact a patient has for mental health management, and they often prescribe medications such as antidepressants, those providers may not always have the time or specific expertise to delve deeply into complex mental health issues.
This is why, when speaking with your main doctor, it can be helpful to ask for recommendations for mental health care professionals.
Getting a referral to a specialist is an important step in the process to optimize your benefits and ensure you receive the comprehensive care you need. At Continuity, we work closely with our referral partners to provide collaborative and specialized mental health services tailored to each patient's unique needs.
Likewise we also maintain a network of referral resources for additional care for services like nutrition and dietetics, interventional psychiatry treatments, in-person counseling practices, other medical specialists.
Our providers also work together for your take if you are engaging in both medication management and therapy. You don't have to spend a bunch of time relaying to your therapist what your psychiatrist said or vice versa - unless you'd like to do that. They keep each other up to date on your care, and you don't have to deal with then back-and-forth.
Insurance can be complicated and frustrating. But we don't want it to be a limiting factor when it comes to seeking care. That's why our team is continuously working to develop positive, workable relationships with a many insurance providers to increase access to care.
"We're committed to taking a wide variety of insurance to increase affordability and access."
We opened our practice as a telehealth first practice. Our providers are a team that are highly connected while also living in communities across the state. Telehealth ensures more convenient access to care, and when you need to squeeze an appointment into your already busy schedule you won't need to factor in additional driving time.
We also offer a few limited evening and weekend availability and will work with you if scheduling becomes an issue.
Should you need to see someone in person, we can help you navigate that step. We also highly value the experience of in-person care and know that many patients prefer and even need to visit with their providers in that setting. We keep a wide network of referrals and are happy to help direct them to care if in-person is that's needed.
